Modern Vampires of the City

I am pleasantly surprised with Vampire Weekend‘s latest album, Modern Vampires of the City. Like, very happily can’t stop playing the album on repeat and I’ve never heard of this band before type of surprised. I wasn’t expecting anything that would stray too far from the signature VW sounding Cape Cod lounging beats, but I’m surprised by how much growth there is in this album. Musically, I feel like the band has inspired a new sound, that demonstrates maturity and something new and refreshing. I can’t explain it, but I like it. Favourite song off the album is Everlasting Arms. I’m trying to decipher the lyrics but am weary of the religious undertones so will leave that and just enjoy the song as something that is ignites something emotional inside of me, whatever that is. Hope you enjoy the album, friends!

Back from Squatchin’

I’m back from the wild aka Sasquatch. It was an amazing 4 days against a wonderful backdrop that for those of us who live in the Pacific Northwest are so lucky to call our backyard. The Gorge really really is breathtaking. I’ve posted a few photos, but for the most part this time around, I decided to take less photos and absorb more of the scenery.

Musical Highlights from the weekend includes:
The Postal Service, The xx, Vampire Weekend, Mumford and Sons, Telekinesis, Dropkick Murphys, Imagine Dragons, Danny Brown, Bloc Party, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

My questions from the weekend: Why the heck did Azaelia Banks cancel, why do people love to wear animal suits, and how did I manage to get my knees/thighs sunbunt when I wore jeans on the sunniest days as a preventative measure?

See you next year maybe, Sasquatch. Thank you for a wonderful weekend.
